The Northern Colorado VA Outpatient Clinic is expecting to take one 12 month extern beginning May/June 2027.

Funding is assigned by the Office of Academic Affairs and may not have been determined by the application deadline. OAA funding is announced nationally at the same time which should allow sites to know funding at approximately the same time. Historically, our site:

- Vestibular evaluation

- Industrial/hearing conservation

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
- Knowledge and skills consistent with completion of 3 years in a clinical and didactic program of study in an accredited AuD program
Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship:
- Externs are expected to refine their skills throughout the Externship year to allow them to perform as independent providers following their experience

A supervisor will always be available. 100% supervision will be provided in the beginning and then gradually reduced as the student demonstrates proficiency.

Continuing Education opportunities:
During the course of the externship year, students would participate in multiple onsite/virtual manufacturer trainings, be allowed to attend 2 offsite manufacturer trainings, given the opportunity to attend JDVAC, and participate in monthly journal club within the audiology department.
Travel to satellites required?:
No. Students will be based out of the Northern Colorado VA Outpatient Clinic but may be given the opportunity to travel to the Cheyenne VA for additional clinical experience.
