Description:
The Robley Rex VA Medical Center is a now accepting applications for one Audiology Extern for 2025-2026. The position is full-time, not to exceed 12 months (2080 hours) and is open to Au.D. students in the final year of their training program. OAA funding for the position is anticipated to be available. The Robley Rex VAMC audiology clinic consists of 3 sound booths, real ear systems (Verifit 2 or Auricle) in all offices/exam rooms, 2 modification stations, and a hearing aid lab.  CBOC clinics utilize boothless technology for evaluations and have Verifit 2 real ear systems for fittings.

Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship:
Externs are expected to be able to perform a hearing evaluation and perform basic hearing aid fittings. Our clinic is looking for externs with strong diagnostic skills, good interpersonal skills and motivation to learn.

Continuing Education opportunities:
Students may also use their time to attend ASHA, AAA and/or JDVAC conferences. Students will have the opportunity to attend on-site and virtual hearing aid training provided by hearing aid manufacturers.

Externs will have the opportunity to visit one or more of the Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) at least once during the externship.
